Peikoff #104

It’s live.

  • Is it proper for the government to conduct a census as it does? <– I asked this one!
  • Did Ayn Rand often refer back to her notes while writing?
  • How does Objectivism separate altruism from selfishness in cases like Mother Theresa where someone wants self-sacrifice? Isn’t she actually acting selfishly by helping others?
  • Is governmental compulsion in airport security warranted?
  • Should the government assume that foreign travelers have no rights when accused of terrorism?

I asked the one about the notes. I was reading The Journals and was curious if she got anything out of her journals besides clarity at the time of writing, plus I knew Peikoff was a big “Thinking on Paper” guy and was curious what he would say about himself.

I have a thinking logbook and had been wondering if I’d ever refer back to some of the items in it.

I still have not received a census form yet. Should I be worried?

No, I don’t think you should be worried. It’s the government’s job to perform the census, not yours to make sure they do it.
